Sorter uses an inventory-based system for items, so when setting expiration information for an item, it's necessary to fill out the corresponding expiration details when restocking that item. Sorter calculates and displays expiration information prominently in the location view, allowing you to arrange items appropriately before they expire, thus minimizing waste.

Prerequisites

  • iOS version 16 or higher

  • Agree to Notification Permissions

Sorter offers 2 methods to set expiry information, and you can choose either based on the information provided by the item itself:

  1. Shelf Life + Production Date

  2. Directly Set Expiry Date

Set Expiry Date

  1. When Add New Item or editing item information, the page will display an "Reminder" component. Clicking on the component will pop up a window to set the expiry information.

  1. The expiration date displayed at the top of the page is a temporary calculation made by Sorter based on the current page settings. You can use this to compare whether the current settings meet your expectations.

  1. The middle section features a date picker where you can select either the production date or the expiration date. If you choose the production date, you'll also need to add the shelf life parameter below. The final expiration date will be calculated based on the production date plus the shelf life. If you select the expiration date directly, it means that date is the expiration date, and you don't need to set any additional shelf life information.

  1. After setting up, click Submit/Save and Sorter will proceed with updating the data.

  1. If you wish to clear the expiration information, you can click on Clear This indicates that the item does not have any expiration information associated with it.

Early Reminder

Sorter defaults to sending expiration reminders at 9:00 AM on the day an item expires. You can also set early reminders to notify you before the item expires based on your specified parameters. If the default option doesn't meet your needs, you can Customize Early Reminder.

  1. Once you have Set Expiry Date for an item, the early reminder component will become enabled and available for use.

  1. Clicking on the "Early Reminder" component will bring up a page where you can set the early reminder range. Choose the option that best suits your needs.

  1. Click Submit and Sorter will send reminders based on your settings.
